About it
I have always been interested in photography. I remember myself struggling with Photostyler (a Photoshop's "ancestor") on a Windows 3.11 machine. Basically wanting simple adjustments like cropping, brightness and contrast, i used the good old Photoshop.
One fair day i discovered the GIMP. Especially after the portable version, I realized that it is a brilliant piece of software. Down the way i realized the abscence of a concise online resource to learn Image Editing systematically. Learning image editing and learning an image editing tool should be two distinctive concepts, properly combined so as to constitute an effective learning process. For the second of the two you can find easily bits and pieces, tutorials scattered here and there, but alas i do not want to spend my time searching here and there. I never like the "tips and tricks" approach. "Do this and do that" is far from being the best learning method - it is actually not a method. Knowledge should be based by default on the systematic learning principle. I needed to learn, once and for all.
It was hard to find something to suit my learning philosophy and i had a funny idea to start thinking of a learning system for my own self. How would i want it to be? What is good for someone should be good for others too, so i thought that the best strategy for a teacher is to put himself in the learner's position and it was a personal challenge to engage both roles at the same time. I had to do research and cope with technical problems. But i like learning so i enjoyed it. In years span, many times i just quit, many times i took over. My first gain was, guess what, that my english was getting better. My second gain, guess what, i was getting better at image editing. Years passing, little by little, it incredibly appeared to be coming as a learning solution for you to enjoy now sitting comfortably in your cozy place sipping your favourite drink. Then i had another funny idea, to make it free, feeling grateful for all those great guys that offer their work freely to us all.

About me, in case you are wondering
I am not a teacher, neither an expert on anything on earth. I think that more than experts we need empathy for simplicity and goodwill for the commons. I am a 60 year old guy living in the countryside and traveling. I learn a few things in science and technologies, at times i engage in multimedia applications and web applications development, and i like sharing knowledge both directions.
